Winter–spring

The archived 2024 program preview traces the farm’s branch season from early magnolia and quince to cherry, dogwood, spirea and viburnum.

The early-season sequence

The original preview placed tulip magnolia first, followed by quince, pussy willow and forsythia. Double quince, white magnolia and white quince were expected later in January for that specific season.

February and spring planning

White and double pink cherry, pieris, yellow and black tulip magnolia, and double white cherry followed in the historical calendar. March through May broadened into dogwood, spirea, hellebores and snowball or popcorn viburnum.

Forcing and color

The grower noted that early-forced flowers may be pale, with deeper color developing in cool conditions above freezing. Ask the farm to connect the bud stage at shipment with your event date rather than relying on a photograph alone.
