White Quince and Early-Forced Double Quince for Chinese New Year

Newsletter dated January 20, 2019

White quince joined the January 2019 collection while early-forced double quince showed pink shades rather than its deeper natural red.

Early forcing affects the look

The grower explained that double quince forced for Chinese New Year was a mixture of pink shades, not deep red, and was offered in medium size that week. A natural-bloom photograph can therefore differ from early-forced product.

Leaves reflected a mild winter

White quince was introduced in medium size with leaves still attached because the winter had been mild. The note connects the actual branch appearance to conditions in the field.

A coordinated holiday branch palette

Pussy willow, tulip magnolia and forsythia appeared alongside the quince. The same email shared a family photograph of Patrick with Nina and a nearby wildlife-camera image.
