Quince Colors and the 2019 Flowering-Branch Preview
Newsletter dated January 1, 2019
Salmon, white and double-flowering quince opened the farm’s New Year preview, with a clear grower explanation of how early-season forcing affects color.

Color deepens toward natural flowering
The newsletter described early quince as nearly blush-white in January, becoming richer salmon closer to February. The lesson is to specify the stage needed rather than judge early-forced stems against a later field photograph.
A sequence through winter and spring
Pussy willow and magnolia came first, followed by forsythia and quince. The preview then moved into cherry, pieris, dogwood and spirea, with some crops dependent on sourcing or limited production.
A thank-you from the family
The New Year note thanked customers and shared Patrick’s favorite 2018 photograph of Amado and Samuel. The original staffing-duration references are preserved as historical context, not updated numerical claims.
