Budded Winter Magnolia: Breadth and Specimen Branch Structure

December–winter

The December 2016 magnolia feature emphasized bare, budded branches with many laterals and broad shapes for winter and holiday floral displays.

The original grower note

From the archived post: Winter tulip magnolia branches, bare with buds. Too early in the season for the buds to bloom, but they make an interesting specimen branch for holiday decorating. Sold in 10 bunch bundles in medium or tall. Stems are bulky with lots of laterals and breadth, 2-4 stems per bunch.
