Flocked, Glittered & Crystallized Christmas Branches
Newsletter dated October 18, 2021
The October 2021 Christmas preview explains several branch finishes developed or offered by Oregon Coastal Flowers, including flocked, glittered, and crystallized specimens.
How crystallized branches were described
The farm recorded developing crystallized branches in 2018, using white paint with opaline flakes to suggest frozen or icy wood. This is a specific finish, distinct from the softer snow-covered appearance of flocking.
Choice within glittered branches
The original offer listed white, silver, gold, plain, and custom base colors, combined with clear, gold, silver, mixed, or opaline glitter. Current options must be confirmed against today’s Christmas collection.
Shape and natural greens completed the collection
Flocked deciduous branches were selected for horizontal branching. The wider range included cone-bearing spruce, hemlock, or noble fir depending on the week, as well as holly, blue ice cedar, noble fir stars, boughs, trees, and twig snowmen.
