Straight Boxes of White Peonies: A 2020 Farm Archive
Newsletter dated June 4, 2020
Explore the farm’s white-peony wholesale program and a June 2020 record of crop diversity, family photographs and pandemic-era flower-market disruption.
Why straight white boxes mattered
Patrick explains that the farm recognized demand for white peonies early and built a program around straight-color boxes. The article pictures creamy-white flowers and a white rose-form peony harvested open.
The historical market context
The embedded newsletter offered pandemic-era peony specials in mixed or specified colors and described 100- and 200-stem packs. Those prices, quantities and promotional terms have expired; today’s list supplies current ordering details.
Life alongside the harvest
A family photograph showed Nina with the cow Valentine, and the email featured Cape Meares Lighthouse. Mock orange, flowering ninebark, blueberries and cherry added to the June crop report.
