Newsletter dated March 6, 2017

The March 2017 pieris feature explained why the farm shipped its pink and white andromeda stems partly open, rather than at an extremely tight stage.

The original grower note

From the archived post: Late winter we begin selling blooming Pieris japonica. We offer pink and white Pieris japonica. They are also known as Andromeda. Most other suppliers sell the pieris japonica when it is tight and it will not open.

These are historical observations and announcements from the original email: Several years ago about this time of the year I was mowing grass in a field with my tractor noticed a movement. Luckily I found him. He was later reunited with his mother.

Pink and white cherry shipping today. Pink is very limited and available for the first few lucky customers. White is more readily available. Please be aware, that though they are nice for cherry in January, they are not the quality you will receive in March.

Blooming Pieris japonica is now shipping. We only ship our Pieris japonica when it is partially bloomed, otherwise they don’t open very well. This is one of our best sellers for a brief time. Take advantage while you can. Supplies limited. No pink available this week.

Every spring we have a baby deer born on our farm. I_m looking forward to this year_s.

We have forced Pink Cherry that is the perfect stage for wholesale sale. This photo was taken a few years ago at natural blooming period outside (about 6 weeks away).

Quince is in the perfect stage for Valentine_s Day. All sizes available including Extra Tall.

A recent double rainbow just down the road from the farm. We live in a beautiful place_ but it rains a lot.

We have a great supply of tulip magnolia right now. This is what your will look like after about a week.

We have prunus available. Prunus is one crop we do not force because they pop open too quickly. They are tight now_ but open within a week if forcing properly.

Spider roots are new. We have large (about 2 pounds each) and small (about 1 pound each). Minimum order is 3.

Peach is the only pink blooming branch we have available right now.

We are stripping the leaves off of our Red Dogwood Branches. They are now available.
