Chinese Lanterns, Autumn Flowers & the Ultimook Mud Pit
Newsletter dated September 10, 2012
Chinese lanterns, jumbo antique hydrangeas, and hop vines shared this 2012 farm update with the Ultimook cross-country race and a mossy forest pergola.

Autumn stems with distinct silhouettes
Chinese lanterns were listed in ten-stem bunches with tall and short grades and options with or without leaves. Hops provided long vines, while jumbo antique hydrangeas brought rounded heads and mature color.
A race through the flower farm
Patrick’s update pictured the mud pit at the Ultimook Race Cross Country Invitational. More than900 high-school athletes participated in that historical event—a glimpse of the farm’s connection to running alongside flower production.
One-of-a-kind forest structures
The email also pictured a mossy forest pergola that Patrick described as a favorite build. Each structure took on its own character. For a contemporary project, share dimensions and installation needs rather than relying on the old catalogue’s availability or pricing.
